Radiation-thermal modification of zirconia ceramics

    It was investigated the influence of radiation-thermal treatment on properties of zirconia ceramics. The effect of radiation stimulated polymorphous M→T transition of ZrO2 was established. It was shown that high temperature electron beam treatment results in rise of mechanical strength of ceramic. The surface recombination mechanism was suggested to explain the results.
