Radiation of electrons transmitted through the crystal

Abstract

The electromagnetic radiation of electrons which happen to become bound to lattice rows during their transmission through the crystal is investigated. Simple estimates of the angular distribution and frequency of radiation for fast electrons captured by 〈100〉 NaCl atomic rows are obtained. The frequency of the radiation varies within a wide range including the visible spectral region. This gives an opportunity to detection of the β-particles contrary to Cherenkov radiation which has a low-energy limit.
