PRR performance of Cu- and CuBr-vapor lasers

The pulse repetition rates (PRR) of Cu- and CuBr- vapor lasers operated at high pump pulse repetitions were analyzed. A family of gas discharge tubes (GDT) was built with same design but different diameters and lengths of the discharge channel. GDTs were connected to a vacuum system to provide optimization of the excitation conditions. The maximum laser PRR attained was found to be 270 kHz for a 8 mm aperture tube with optimal pump PRR being 100 kHz for that tube.
