Properties of thermal silicate materials

Abstract

Asbestos thermal silicate materials are manufactured on basis of lime-silica binder and asbestos fillers. Such materials are utilized for thermal insulation of the casting equipment during aluminum production. Concept of 'thermal silicate material' is connected with technology. Structures and properties of the thermal silicate materials have been investigated. The materials have been produced with the use of wollastonite from Sinukhinskoe deposit. Problem of replacing the asbestos by wollastonite in silica materials has been considered. Efficient thermal silicate materials have been manufactured.
