Experimental study of influence of sound wave propagation along positive column on gas discharge parameters is carried out. Behaviour of longitudinal electric field, discharge gas temperature, electron temperature and concentration in sound wave field is clarified. Modulations of discharge current, electron temperature and concentration by sound wave are investigated. Influence of oxygen, argon and helium additives to nitrogen discharge on current modulation depth is determined. The sound effect on contraction in nitrogen discharge is experimentally studied. Conditions are determined under which the sound completely cancels the hysteresis region on current-voltage characteristics of the discharge and causes its complete decontracting.
