Production of complex nitride-containing charge by oxidation of zirconium and aluminum in air

Abstract

The chemical composition of products of combustion of bulk powders of a commercial zirconium-aluminum alloy (zirconium content was 84 wt% ) and ultradisperse aluminum powder has been investigated. It is established that under given conditions the final products of zirconium-aluminum charge oxidation can contain up to 60% of aluminum nitride and zirconium nitride mixture.
