Abstract
Catalytic processing of 1,2-dichloroethane was carried out in quartz fluidized bed reactor over nickel catalyst to produce structured feather-like carbon materials. It was found that the addition of hydrogen into reaction gas feed has a strong effect on structure and textural properties of carbon deposits. Carbon product is characterized by very loose and disordered structure consisting of separate fragments of structured graphite phase. Samples obtained in the presence of hydrogen added possess very high surface area more than 300 m2/g.
