Abstract
A study on the benzene distillation plant of the Avdeevka by-product coke plant was carried out. Benzene hydrocarbons were recovered from coke gas by stripping oil and distilled in two column unit. Crude benzene was the mixture of chemical agents, the majority of which were aromatic hydrocarbons, i.e., benzene and homologues. Phenols, sulfur substances, pyridine substances, etc. were also obtained. Reductions in energy consumption could be achieved by improving heat integration. This could be carried out using the process integration method and the application of modern heat exchangers construction. Payback period of the proposed retrofit design is ≈ 10 mo. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 7th European Congress of Chemical Engineering-7 and 19th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering CHISA 2010 (Prague, Czech Republic 8/28/2010-9/1/2010).
