Abstract
The authors describe a high-voltage pulse supply for the injector of a compact betatron with an electron energy of 8 MeV. The supply is based on a step-up pulse transformer with complete discharging of the storage device. The voltage amplitude on the injector cathode reaches 100 kV for a load current of up to 5 A. The base duration of a half-wave voltage pulse is 0.5 μsec. The pulse transformer with oil tank has dimensions of 150 × 140 × 150 mm and a weight of 5.2 kg. The injector cathode, which is under high voltage, is heated by an ac voltage connected to the primary winding of the pulse transformer. The operation of the supply circuit is examined.
