Polyhedral Anions BnHn 2- (n = 6, 10, 12) in Lead Complexes

Reaction of lead nitrates with bipyridylamine (py2NH) in the presence of a series of closo-hydioborate anions B12H12 2+, B10H10 2+, and B6H6 2+ is considered. The compounds Pb(py2NH)2B12H12, Pb(py2N)(OH)B10H10, and [Pb(OH)]2B6H6 are synthesized. The IR spectra of the complexes are studied. It is shown that the formation of the inner coordination sphere of lead is influenced by the composition of the outersphere closo-hydroborate anion.
