Abstract
Methods of metallography, X ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy were applied to study the structure and phase composition of powder alloy of Cu-Al-O system. Alloy powders were prepared by mechanical alloying in a triboreactor and then subjected to high temperature compacting with high deformation degree. The sintered compacts were shown to consist of aluminum solid solution in copper, two-phase copper grains containing particles of β-Cu3Al, α-Al2O3 and Cu2O, as well as of oxide phases arranged along primary and secondary grain boundaries.
