Physical and technological aspects of MIM cathode matrices creation for planar vacuum fluorescent display

Abstract

The results of investigations are presented in the field of planar fluorescent display creation on the base of MIM cathode matrices. The MIM cathode matrix consists of mutually orthogonal metallic film strips. The MIM cathodes are connected between the strips and taken out the limits of upper conducting bar. The most appropriate thickness of working dielectric, the lower electrode roughness level, and the pulse parameters for MIM cathodes forming are determined. The samples of planar display with matrices 32×16 are made which have the intensity of glow comparable with the glow of best samples of displays of other types.
