Phase transitions in wetted glass batches upon compaction

Abstract

The type of phase transitions in glass mixtures throughout all stages of their preparation including moistening, compaction, and drying was studied. The criteria for estimating formability of glass batches were proposed. The interrelation of basic process parameters of granulation (moisture content, time of granulation, and mechanical strength of granules) with the criteria proposed was established. A possibility of using these criteria for selecting method of the glass mixture compaction and the process conditions was shown.
