Abstract

A comparative study was carried out in the features of crater formation on surfaces of mono- and polycrystals of molybdenum, nickel, TSM-7 and Mo-47% Re alloys under irradiation with nanosecond ion beams of (1-5)×107 W/cm2 power density. Using the method of transmission electron microscopy specific features of defect structure and phase variations inside and in the vicinity of various size craters were investigated. The nature and the mechanism of crater formation are discussed on the basis of results obtained.
