Abstract
We investigated by means of computer simulations the influence of 2000 MeV/u relativistic heavy ions (RHI) planar channeling on the angular and spectral distributions of optical radiation in a diamond crystal, in vicinity of the classical Cherenkov cone. The case of RHI is attractive since the dechanneling length is much greater compared to electrons and other light particles having similar relativistic factor. Although the effect turned out to be rather small, further studies of peculiarities in spectral-angular properties of optical radiation from channeled RHI at other emission angles and in other spectral regions will be continued.
