On the role of hardening mechanisms under electrostimulated deformation of 08Mn2S steel

Abstract

With the purpose to investigate action mechanisms of current pulses on the process of plastic deformation progress, an estimation was carried out of the main contributions of dislocation retardation mechanisms (dislocations of 'forest', fragment boundaries, long-range-acting stress fields) in hardening process of 08Mn2S steel. The estimation was carried out by means of statistic analysis of parameters of fine structure, detected by electron microscopy. Steel hardening under electrostimulated and common drawing was shown to have multicomponent character. Current pulses action leads to contribution decrease of the mechanisms considered into steel hardening process in comparison with common drawing.
