On mechanisms of fragmentation at mesolevel during plastic deformation of surface hardened chromium steel

Abstract

Nitrided chromium steel 65Kh13 was taken to investigate the deformation mechanisms in mesobands and the accomodation processes inside of mesovolumes by the analysis of fields of displacement vectors and distorsion tensor components. It is shown that within the limits of a mesolevel the hierarchy of sublevels exists. These sublevels are related with the formation of various scale fragments and deformation domains. Self-organization of deformation mechanisms in the hierarchy of mesoscopic sublevels obeys the law of similarity.
