Numerical investigation of the excitation of axially symmetric electromagnetic oscillations in a coaxial triode with a virtual cathode

Abstract

We used a 2.5 dimensional computer code to numerically investigate the dynamics of an electron beam excited by axially symmetric electromagnetic waves in a coaxial virtual-cathode triode. In this paper we describe the dependence of the frequency characteristics, power, and efficiency on the beam and system parameters we obtained, and show that the dependence of the radiated power on the anode transparency is extremal.
