N2 - A study is presented so as to help in solving the most important research and engineering problem which is the precision of noncontact inspection of the mechanical condition of mechanisms and machine elements. The illustrated designed system provides the acquisition of objective information that deals with the mechanical conditions of the important mechanisms and machine elements at the technological process stage and during the lifetime in the operating mode. Furthermore, both the designed diagnostic system and some special mathematical processing methods have produced a unique experimental data regarding the changes on the commutator profile of high-speed electric machines.
