Structural and group composition of low-molecular nitrogen-containing bases of heavy petroleum of Van-Egansk oilfield were studied to elucidate the negative effect of these polar compounds on catalytic treatment of petroleum fractions, quality of fuels and lubricants, and environment. They were extracted from crude by solution of sulfuric acid in acetic acid and presented a mixture of strong and weak bases in the ratio of 52:48. More detailed information of a composition of nitrogen-containing strong and weak bases in the crude was derived from MS analysis.
