Abstract

Abstract: The possible existence of nanosized complex defects in highly imperfect crystalline phosphors is discussed. It is shown that the optically active nanodefects in phosphors based on rare-earth ion-doped yttrium aluminum garnet and ZnWO4 : Eu scintillation crystals have a large electron excitation capture cross section.
