Abstract

Deactivated arenes (nitrobenzene, nitrotoluen, benzoic acid, 3-fluorbenzoic acid, benzaldehyde, benzil, flurenon and etc.) are iodinated easily at 0°C within 15-90 min by action of tetraiodoglycoluril or N-iodosuccinimide in sulfuric acid in generally good yields of the iodoarenes without by-side products. Probably nowadays these reaction systems are the most active iodination agents.
