Abstract

The effect of various kinds ion beams on surface electric conductivity of magnezium oxide crystals is studied. MgO surface layers transition into conducting state is shown to defined by fundamental processes of structural and chemical surface reconstruction due to ion irradiation and not to depend on implanted particles chemical nature.
