Abstract
Results of experiments with plasma opening switches (POSs) in which energy delivery to the storage inductor occurs on a microsecond time scale are reported. Under these conditions, the POS insures an impedance rate of rise of approximately 10**9 OMEGA /s to final values of approximately 10-20 OMEGA . These parameters allow the POS to be considered as a basis for the creation of unique approximately 10**1**3-W pulsed-power generators as well as compact approximtaely 10**1**0-W commercial generators.
