Micro second plasma opening switch with gas-puff plasma guns at GIT-4 accelerator

    Abstract

    Experiments with gas-puff plasma guns at GIT-4 was undertaken in order to derive a single species ion flow. The MPOS was of coaxial geometry with inner and outer diameters of 102 and 300 mm respectively. The experimental results obtained at the current level of 1 MA were compared with the previously obtained results at the current level of 200 kA. Basing from this comparison, it was concluded that the respective increase of the plasma density made up 1.5 order. It was noted, that the impedance of MPOS decreased from 20ohm to 3-4 ohm.
