Methods of investigation new method for evaluating the reactivity of olefins in radical processes

Abstract

Linear relations were derived between logarithmic rate constants of chain propagation in radical polymerization and the addition of a methyl and trifluoromethyl radical to vinyl monomers and the λmax value in UV spectra. It was shown that the wave length of long-wave electron transfer changes in the same sequence as do the thermochemical deviations from additivity; this enables us to determine the reactivity series of monomers in radical processes according to UV spectra.
