Abstract
Mesoscopic deformation domains are observed to occur in the displacement vector field when tensile stresses are induced in porous ceramic-coated aluminum polycrystals where the motion of dislocations at the microscopic level is suppressed. Deformation domains are identified as mesoscopic defects that implement accommodation deformation of the rotation type.
