Measurement of the position resolution of the total-absorption large-area cerenkov spectrometer

Abstract

We present the measured positions of incidence of shower particles (high-energy photons or electrons) on the total-absorption Cerenkov spectrometer. Positions are obtained by measuring the amplitudes of pulses from the photomultipliers viewing a larger face of the homogeneous Cerenkov radiator with dimensions of 60 × 40 × 15 cm. The measured position resolution is 5.4 and 3.3 cm for electrons with 50- and 208-MeV energy, respectively.
