Abstract
A magnetically isolated diode is described whose anode has an opening 7 mm in diameter. An electron beam 7 mm in diameter with a current of 2.2 kA and an electron energy of 1 MeV is obtained. Estimates show that the axial energy spread of electrons in the beam is within (2.3-7)10-3. The maximum energy stored in the beam is 89±9 J.
