Abstract
The sintering of alumina, both pure and modified by compound additives, at 1200 to 1500°C was investigated using a structural - energy parameter to assess the process. It was shown that this parameter has a number of important advantages to offer in kinetic studies of corundum sintering over existing estimation parameters, simplifies the mathematical description of the process, and provides a closer view of the sintering mechanism.
