Abstract
It is shown that the ratio of the optical density of the absorption band for the stretching vibrations of the vinyl bonds in the IR spectrum of 9-vinylcarbazole to the optical density of the band for the CC vibration bonds is linearly related to the mole fraction of 9-carbazole in its mixture with poly-9-vinyl carbazole. This relation is used to study the kinetics of polymerization of 9-vinyl carbazole in 1,2-dichloroethane solution under the action of diethylaluminium chloride.
