Abstract

A mathematical modeling and an experimental investigation of the phase selection mechanism and its effect on the efficiency of a microwave triode with a virtual cathode are carried out. it is shown that the oscillation process occurs both because of a bunching due to the anharmonic nature of the electron oscillations and also because of the settling of 'incorrectly phased' electrons onto the cathode.
