Investigation of electromagnetic signal parameter distributions under uniaxial compression of rocks

Abstract

The results are presented for experimental study of amplitude and duration of electromagnetic signals in the different stages of loading of sandstone samples, which make it possible to judge of their stress-strain state. The study shows that amplitude of the recorded electromagnetic signal increases with growth of mechanical loading. The signal duration is sensitive to a change of compressing forces. The durations distribution of electromagnetic signals is displaced to larger values at the stage of specimen macrofailure.
