Abstract

Results of an experimental investigation of collective ion acceleration in a vacuum and plasma-filled diode are reported. The protons in the accelerator with a Luce diode (1 MeV, 1. 6 kJ) attained an energy of 45 MeV (N//p equals 10**1 **0 ) and 15 MeV (N//p equals 2 multiplied by 10**1 **1 ); with the plasma filled diode (0. 3 MeV, 0. 3 kJ) the energy attained was -12 MeV (5 multiplied by 10**1 **2 ).
