Intermolecular interactions in poly(methyl methacrylate) modified with silver, copper, or neodymium trifluoroacetates

Abstract

Intermolecular interactions of poly(methyl methacrylate) with silver, copper, and neodymium trifluoroacetates were studied by gas-liquid chromatography. It was found that the polymer modified with these metal salts retains the ability to participate in donor-acceptor complexation with nucleophilic compounds. This is a result of the delocalization of vacant orbitals of the metal ion during the competitive interaction between the trifluoroacetate anion and the polymeric matrix.
