Influence of the kinetics of transition zone formation between the particle and the matrix on effective properties of the composite

Abstract

A model is proposed to describe the effective properties of a composite with inclusions during the synthesis. Several consecutive new phases can form between the initial particle and the matrix. The problem with moving boundaries on transient layer formation of two new phases is solved analytically in quasi-stationary approximation. Then the properties of an effective particle with an inhomogeneous transition layer is found. Next stage of the solution consists in the calculation of effective properties of composite using known formulae.
