Influence of laser radiation on structure and properties of steel

Abstract

An investigation is carried out to study the influence of laser radiation of Nd: YAG-laser on the structure and properties of annealed and quenched steel with different carbon content. The pulsed laser with the power density up to 30 kW/cm2 is used for surface hardening. The characteristics of laser and the properties of steel are obtained.
