Ignition of pelletized mixed fuels based on 3B grade coal and wood waste

Abstract

The possibility of sawmill waste utilization, when burned in a mixture with coal, was analyzed. The ignition conditions and characteristics of fuel mixtures pellets based on coal dust and sawmill waste at various mass concentrations of the components hab been experimentally determined. The experiments were carried out in a heated to high (from 600 °C to 800 °C) temperatures. Registration of the heating processes of the mixed fuel granules and their subsequent ignition and combustion was carried out using a high-speed video camera (image format-1024 × 1024 pixels, frame rate-up to 105 per second), providing high-quality recording of process characteristic times. It was established that the increase in the proportion of wood component in the fuel granule allows to significantly reduce the numerical values of the ignition delay times of all the studied mixtures based on 3B grade coal. The limit of stable ignition of such fuels had been established.
