Abstract

The effect of a translucent plate on the ignition of a condensed substance is considered, in which the plate shields the substance from an external heat flow. The main parameter determining the effect of the shield is the ratio of the thickness of the barrier to the thickness of the thermal boundary layer formed during the induction period of ignition of an unshielded condensed substance.
