A dc power supply with output voltage continuously adjustable from 8 to 32 kV at load currents of 0-50 mu A is described. The power supply uses an intermediate high-frequency converter employing a resonant inverter circuit. Output voltage is regulated by the phase-pulse method. With a 10% change in supply voltage, output voltage varies not more than 0. 5%, while the efficiency of low voltage dc to high voltage dc conversion is greater than equivalent to 30%.
