Abstract

The design, fabrication technology, and switching characteristics of superconducting foil breakers controlled by current pulses are described. The breakers have working currents of 800-1200 A, working voltages of up to 100 kV, and cutoff times of a few microseconds. A precharged capacitor is discharged to produce the control current.
