High resolution infrared study of D2CO in the region of 1780-2400 cm-1: Assignment and preliminary analysis

Abstract

A high resolution spectrum of the formaldehyde D2 12CO molecule in the range from 1780 to 2400 cm-1 has been recorded by a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The measured region covers the stretching fundamental bands ν1 and ν5 and the first overtone and combination bands 2ν4, ν46, 2ν6, ν34, ν36, and 2ν3 which correspond to double excitations of deformational quanta. About 9600 transitions were assigned to the eight mentioned vibrational bands. Preliminary analysis with J′<10 of the obtained assignments was made, and the values of the band centers and the main rotational, centrifugal distortion, and resonance interaction parameters were estimated.
