High resolution fourier transform spectrum of h2s in the 3300-4080 cm-1 region

Abstract

The high resolution infrared spectrum of H2S in the 3300-4080 cm-1 region has been measured on a Fourier transform spectrometer. Altogether about 1948 lines have been assigned to the bands v1 + v2, v2 + v3, and 3v2 of the isotopic species H2 32S, H2 34S, and H2 33S and the hot bands v1 + 2v2 - v2 and 2v2 + v3 - v2 of H2 32S. The energy levels derived from the lines in the three bands were simultaneously fitted for all different isotopic species. It was necessary to take into account several interactions; the strong Coriolis resonance between v1 + v2 and v2 + v3, the other Coriolis resonance between v2 + v3 and 3v2 as well as the Fermi resonance v1 + V2/3v2. As an example it may be mentioned that for H2 32S 353 upper state energy levels with Jmax = 18 were fitted using 80 variable parameters and the molecular parameters obtained reproduce the energy levels with a standard deviation of 1.3 × 10-4 cm-1.
