Abstract
An electrical circuit is described and the construction of the high-current pulse generator is represented. The generator has the following parameters: output voltage is ∼ 20kV, current is ∼ 100kA, it operates in a nanosecond range of time (∼ 300ns), the pulse repetition rate is up to 10Hz in a continuous mode, and it is intended for plasma focus supply. The generator is based on the capacitive storage discharge through toroidal pulse transformer to electrodes of the plasma focus. A low-inductance multichannel spark-gap is used as a switch in the generator. The stored energy of the generator is ∼ 600J. The first results of the experimental operation of the generator with plasma focus are given.
