Abstract
In the paper the experimental results on investigation of combined process of hardening of hard alloy cutting tools using a pulsed high-power ion beam are presented. The basis of the process is the pretreatment of a surface of working section of a tool by the beam with the current density up to 300 A/cm 2 and the subsequent deposition of wear resistance coverings. This leads to the improvement of operational characteristics of the tools compared with coated tools.
