Abstract
A review is given of the developments of the ideas in hydrogeology and the general concept of the hydrosphere of the Earth. Special attention is paid to the origin of the water in the interior of the Earth, the manner in which it moves and its changes of state. The question of the circulation of water with its division into hydrogeological and geological cycles is treated from the modern standpoint. The basic viewpoints are illustrated by copious material from all over the world. The book is intended for a wide circle of specialists: hydrogeologists, geologists, geochemists, hydraulic engineers, research assistants and scientific workers.-from Publisher
