Abstract

The problem of non-coherent gamma -quantum scattering is investigated in the medium taking the multiple scattering into account. Two models of the elementary process of scattering of the resonant gamma -quanta by the nuclei are discussed. It is shown that in case of large values of the quantum reemission probability or a large effective thickness, the problem cannot be limited only to the quantum single scattering approximation.
