Friction and wear of composite materials with multilevel damping structures

Abstract

The completed studies have revealed the mechanical and tribological behavior of composite heterogeneous materials containing titanium carbide as a solid phase. It is demonstrated that wear becomes controllable by engineering a multilevel damping structure and by achieving the structural level of deformation of the surface layer most suitable for given friction conditions.
