Frequency-puls samarium ion implantation into high-temperature alloys

Abstract

The effect of fluences in the range of 5×1016-5×1017 ion/cm2 on the surface layers chemical and phase composition, heat resistance, fatigue strength and dust erosion resistance of high-temperature alloys irradiated with 85 keV Sm ions was investigated. Using Sm-ions implantation was shown to be able to increase fatigue toughness on 20-40%, erosion resistance on 40-80% and heat resistance by factor of 1.5-2.
