The conditions and character of formation of floating slags when burning Kansk-Achinsk coal in boilers with liquid slag removal are investigated. The foaming-up of slags is studied using the mathematical theory of experiment. It is shown that the foaming of slags depends on the SiO//2/CaO ratio. Maximum foaming occurs when this ratio is 1. 36 at the temperature of 1255 degree C. Practical recommendations to reduce foaming are given.
